Maculara, Eyewear/Eyecare Specialist, Adds to Marble Arch Revival

New brands continue to be attracted to Portman Estate’s London properties. The latest is that independent eye care specialist Maculara has opened its first London store at Regent House, Edgware Road.

The retailer offers a wide range of premium eyewear combined with eye care services, with its consultants providing clinical treatments. This new opening, adjacent to the Marble Arch Townhouse, “will boost the amenity and retail offering on Edgware Road, in line with The Portman Estate’s long-term ambitions for the area”.

A wave of new lettings across Marble Arch follows TK Maxx’s Great Portland Estates signing Oxford Street for a 22,500 sq ft store at Mount Royal and a commitment from Superdrug to a 10-year extension at the existing Marble Arch store at theirs.

Also set to be a major boost for the area is the arrival of the new 25,999 square meter Moco Museum, the first in the UK, adjacent to Marble Arch/Edgware Road. The retail, leisure and cultural offer sees the brand open its largest contemporary art collection across three floors.

This landmark scheme “underlines the role of the Portman Estate in driving commercial development in London’s West End”.

Tom Knight, Portfolio Director at The Portman Estate said: “The emergence of new, independent and global brands is a clear indicator of the resilience of retail in the West End, At the same time, it is a testament to our vision and efforts in providing high quality products.”
